Blog speak

Found some interesting new vocabulary in the Samizdata site inspired by the the world of blogs.

Blogathy - When you just don't give a damn about posting in your blog that day.
Blogopotamus - A very long blog article
Blogosphere - The totality of blogs; blogs as a community; blogs as a social network.
Blogroach - A reader who infests the comment section of a weblog, disagreeing with everything posted in the most obnoxious manner possible
Blogstipation - To be unable to think of anything to blog about, i.e. writer's block for bloggers.
Blurker - One who reads many blogs but leaves no evidence of themselves such as comments behind; a silent observer of blogs; One who reads many blogs but has no blog of their own; a blog-watcher or blog voyeur.
Froglogs - Francophone blogs. (this is cute)
Klogger - Someone who writes for a corporate Knowledge Log
Permalink - A link to a specific article in the archives of a blog, which will remain valid after the article is no longer listed on the blog's front page (i.e after it has archived); A link in a blogroll
Plog - A project blog. A blog set up to chronicle a particular (business) project; On-line bookseller Amazon.com has experimented with offering its customers 'personalised weblogs' that they call 'plogs'. Although they have trademarked the name, it is already in use with other meanings and the Amazon usage is unlikely to gain lasting traction.
Plogging - Short for presidential blogging (as in the president or CXO of a company) which bypasses the entire PR apparatus, as well as the traditionally blah forms of published speech by CXOs. Think of it as "Do It Yourself PR" for the people best positioned to make hay with it.

Blogdex

Another blog-inspired terminology! Blogdex - The weblog diffusion index.

"Blogdex is a research project of the MIT Media Laboratory tracking the diffusion of information through the weblog community. Ideas can have very similar properties to a disease, spreading through the population like wildfire. The goal of Blogdex is to explore what it is about information, people, and their relationships that allows for this contagious media.
Blogdex uses the links made by webloggers as a proxy to the things they are talking about. Webloggers typically contextualize their writing with hypertext links which act as markers for the subjects they are discussing. These markers are like tags placed on wild animals, allowing Blogdex to track a piece of conversation as it moves from weblog to weblog.
Blogdex crawls all of the weblogs in its database every time they are updated and collects the links that have been made since the last time it was updated. The system then looks across all weblogs and generates a list of fastest spreading ideas. This is the list shown on the
front page. For each of these links, further detail is provided as to where the link was found, and at what time."

Blogvertising

Learned a new term today, Blovertising. Its all over google and yahoo but would you believe its not in Wikipedia!?

Meaning is kinda obvious, advertising through blogs. Raving Lunacy's blog has loads of postings on this topic.

Bisita Iglesia

Everything happens for a reason. Last Holy Thursday, I was supposed to meet up with Susan, my high school barkada who just arrived from the US. As always her schedule was screwed so I just decided to attend the services at greenbelt chapel. Since I got an 'extra' driver today (I never planned to leave home except to church in bf), I decided might as well do the rounds of the church at least in makati. Have not done the traditional 'bisita iglesia' for years since my mom had difficulty in walking.

From greenbelt chapel (top left photo), I proceeded to Don Bosco (top right photo), then Shrine of the Sacred Heart (lower left photo) and finally Church of the Resurrecion in BF Homes (lower right photo). It was close to midnight when I reached the last church since a few mins after praying, the priest went to take out the chalice. Just in the nick of time. I was supposed to go to San Antonio in Forbes but as usual, my driver got lost on the way to Sacred Heart so we wasted so much time.
